Overview Information
The definitive mid-sized SUV. The Ford Explorer helped define the segment and has been a top seller. The Explorer is offered in 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive models with a choice of V6 or V8 power. Explorer offers ample room on the interior with 5, 6 and 7 passenger seating options. The independent rear suspension is fairly rare in this segment. Roll stability control helps alleviate fears of control problems.

Ford will bolster the 2009 Explorer by including Trailer Sway Control. Trailer Sway Control joins an already impressive list of standard safety features, including industry-exclusive AdvanceTrac(R) with RSC(R) (Roll Stability Control).
