The Liberty is a competent midsize SUV for Jeep lovers.
Overview Information
Although the Liberty replaced the hugely popular Cherokee, it never met with the same enthusiasm as its chunky predecessor. The second generation looks to rectify that with larger proportions and blockier styling. The standard 3.7L V-6 can be mated to a 4-speed automatic. Some models are available with a 6-speed manual. A choice of axle ratios and part-time and full-time 4WD systems allow buyers to customize the Liberty to their needs.
What Changed:
Jeep offers an all-new Liberty for 2008. The new squared off styling is not only reminiscent of its sibling the Dodge Nitro, but also serves as a nod to the squared off styling idiom of older Jeep models. A 3.7L V6 is standard, but buyers can choose from two-wheel and four-wheel drive, manual and automatic transmissions.
