A Pseudo-truck for Cadillac

Once hailed as the Standard of the World, Cadillac has enjoyed a resurgence of attention over the last few years. This is largely due to the success of the full-sized Escalade SUV. The Escalade has returned Cadillac to the realm of status vehicles. To capitalize on its success Cadillac has thoroughly re-worked its top selling passenger car, the CTS.

Cadillac's restyled CTS was one of the most highly regarded new cars of the 2008 model year. This year, the incomprehensibly powerful CTS-V returns to the lineup, touting a 6.2L supercharged V8 engine rated at over 550-bhp. The ridiculous amount of power and aggressive body trim bring to mind the AMG-tuned Mercedes models, which should make Cadillac ecstatic.

Cadillac's highest priced model, the XLR, receives a small makeover with new front/rear fascias, a domed hood and side vents. Only the most expensive XLR-V and Platinum models remain.

The Escalade SUV offers a hybrid model for the first time. Escalade Hybrid models feature a 6.0L V8 coupled to GM's two-mode hybrid system. The Escalade Hybrid shares its powertrain with the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon Hybrid SUVs.

Next up for Cadillac will be the introduction of new CTS coupe and wagon models. The slow-selling SRX station wagon will be re-designed as a small luxury crossover with seating for five.
