A stylish compact wagon now suited for delivery duty
Overview Information
The HHR has been a minor hit for Chevy, and with good reason. Combining styling inspired by the 1949 Chevy Suburban and affordable pricing, the new HHR Panel is a practical wagon that provides the utility and privacy of a full size cargo van in a smaller package. The rear doors substitute steel panels for the glass windows, and open from the inside only. A flat load floor with tie-downs replaces the back seats to provide 57 cu. ft. of cargo volume. Underneath the floor are two lockable storage compartments. Powertrain options are identical to the standard HHR: a DOHC 2.2L or 2.4L inline-4 mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. Chevy includes standard Stabilitrak stability control, a rarity in this class.
What Changed:
The HHR Panel now offers a SS model like its wagon counterpart. The SS model features a 2.0L turbocharged engine rated at 260-bhp and 260 lb-ft of torque (manual transmission.) Horsepower has increased in the base engine from 149-bhp to 155-bhp. Fuel economy is also improved. Both 2.2L and 2.4L four-cylinder engines can now run on E85.

Entering its fourth year of production, the fun, stylish and efficient Chevy HHR continues to claim a growing share of the compact segment. Despite a challenging market in early 2008, HHR sales were up 8 percent, maintaining the momentum of 2007. That year, HHR sales topped 105,000 - a record that beat 2006's 101,000 sales by about 4 percent. Powerful and efficient Ecotec engines are at the heart of the HHR lineup's success. They provide good...Read.
