Overview Information
The GMC Envoy fits in a very competitive midsize SUV field. Engine choices include a 291-bhp 4.2L I-6, or a 300-bhp 5.3L V-8 (Envoy Denali) coupled to a 4-speed automatic. The V-8 is equipped with Displacement on Demand for improved fuel economy. Envoy models are available with 2WD or Autotrac on-demand 4WD. Stabilitrak® stability control is standard and head curtain side airbags are available. Towing capacity is 6,600 lbs. when equipped with the 5.3L V-8. Most other midsize SUVs are equipped with independent rear suspensions and 5-speed automatics, features which put the Envoy at a comparative disadvantage. The Envoy Denali is best suited for customers who need extra towing capability, or prefer the minor luxury upgrades.

Changes to the 2009 GMC Envoy and Envoy Denali models are few, but customers will appreciate the new Bluetooth wireless capability for safer, hands-free phone calls. It is available with Envoy's OnStar 8.0 system. Also new for '09 are three exterior colors: Sand Beige Metallic, Quicksilver Metallic and Silver-Green Metallic.
